The Challenge
Apprenticeship support is fragmented, reactive, and often invisible until something goes wrong.
Many apprentices experience isolation, uncertainty, and wellbeing challenges during their programme, but have no safe, informal space to ask questions or share concerns outside of formal reviews. At the same time, learning providers rely heavily on attendance data and scheduled reviews, which means early warning signs of disengagement are often missed.
This creates a gap where:
- Apprentices feel unsupported or reluctant to speak up
- Providers only become aware of issues once disengagement has already occurred
- Safeguarding concerns may surface late, increasing risk to learners and providers alike
The challenge was to create a solution that supports apprentices proactively while giving providers meaningful insight without turning support into surveillance.
The Solution
Prentis has been designed as a dedicated, Wales-focused community platform that supports apprentices alongside their qualification, not as part of assessment or compliance activity.
The platform provides:
- A peer-led community where apprentices can connect, share experiences, and ask questions openly
- Access to apprenticeship ambassadors who offer practical, lived-experience guidance
- A central resource hub covering study skills, wellbeing, financial support, and understanding apprenticeship expectations
- Clear safeguarding structures, moderation, and signposting to Welsh and UK support services
For providers, Prentis offers anonymised engagement insights that highlight patterns of participation and wellbeing trends, allowing earlier, more informed intervention without monitoring individual performance or assessment activity.
This approach shifts support from reactive to proactive, improves learner confidence, and strengthens safeguarding while maintaining trust.
